Which Indian States Have The Best Sanitation Facilities?


BANGALORE: India’s developmental facets still lags behind many aspects. One among it is improper sanitation facilities and lack of toilets/bathrooms in and around the country.

As many as 60 per cent rural households do not have access to toilet facility even after 68 years of independence, findings of the latest government survey revealed. The situation is however far better in urban India as only a less than 9 percent of the population lack the facility.

In a country ranked poorly on the sanitation facilities, there are still some parts in India providing that provide best facilities, reveals the data on toilet/bathroom and sanitation facilities across India from the 69th round of National Sample Survey,.

India’s national capital New Delhi, over the years has seen major infrastructural changes. It has a much improved infrastructure with new roads, flyovers, bridges, healthcare facilities, sanitation.

Earlier this year, the government of Delhi decided that it will provide 666 liters of free water every day to households with functioning water meters to curb sanitation related problems.

A state in the far north-eastern part of India, Nagaland is also a state with the best sanitation facilities. It is apparently heading for hygienic and cleaner living, with a series of programmes being undertaken by the Communication and Capacity Development unit of PHED to intensify the “total sanitation campaign.”
