BANGALORE: The latest survey entitled Quality of Living conducted by Mercer, the financial services company, has ranked world’s best livable cities in 2014. The survey ranked cities based on factors such as culture and environment, political stability, safety, infrastructure and ease of doing business. It is carried out annually to help multinational companies and other employers compensate employees fairly when placing them on international assignments.

“Political instability, high crime levels, and elevated air pollution are a few factors that can be detrimental to the daily lives of expatriate employees their families and local residents. To ensure that compensation packages reflect the local environment appropriately, employers need a clear picture of the quality of living in the cities where they operate,” said Slagin Parakatil, Senior Researcher at Mercer. Read on to find out about the 7 most livable cities.

7. Frankfurt, Germany: Frankfurt, the economic center of Germany, is the financial capital of continental Europe. Finance is the largest industry in the city, but service sectors as a whole are widely represented. The unemployment rate is less than 6 percent, on par with Germany’s national unemployment rate and much lower than that of most neighboring European countries.

Frankfurt is one of the most affordable major cities in Europe, which makes it a great place to build a savings. While Frankfurt is mostly known for its business side, it is also a city with lots of recreation. Its location on the River Main provides excellent recreation opportunities and in the summer the riverbank is a popular place for sunbathing and relaxation. In fact, most visitors to Frankfurt are surprised at just how relaxed the city’s pace is. As such, Frankfurt is one of the cities best known as the most livable place.
