Western Line Inaugurated: Know More about Namma Metro in 8 Points


BENGALURU: Namma Metro, a public transit system that is considered to be the panacea for the Bengaluru’s traffic hitches is done by 75 percent as of the latest development. The western line of the Namma Metro phase 1 was inaugurated by the Chief Minister (CM) of the state.

Reach 2 of the purple line was inaugurated and here goes the complete story.  

The purple line:

The purple line is compiled of reach 2, planned to connect the western and eastern parts of the city. Reach 1 begins from Baiyappanahall and ends at the M.G. Road, it was inaugurated in 2011 and reach 2 now begins from Mysore Road and ends at Magadi Road. The overall line is expected to pass through 36 stations.

Stations:

Reach 2 begins from the Nayandahalli and stop at 5 subsequent stationsending its journey at the Magadi road station. Other five stations include, Deepanjalinagar, Attiguppe, Vijayanagar, Hosahalli and finally Magadi Road.

Operation:

Though the reach 2 operation was officially readyby16th of this month, the commercial operations for public use will begin from the 18th, exactly by 4 pm. As per the officials of the BMRC, they would need at least 24 hours to drag the operational trains all the way through the underground stretch from the Baiyappanahalli metro depot to the Nayandahalli metro station.

Not connecting the central part:

Since the metro station at the central region (Majestic) is still under construction, the reach 2 of the purple line will end its ride at the Magadi road station. Hence, the officials of the BMRC are expecting around 20, 000 passengers per day and once the central station is ready for the service the customer count is expected to rise radically.

June 2016: Deadline

June 2016, is the new deadline, given to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) by the CM Siddaramaiah to complete the entire phase 1 of Namma Metro. Phase 1 is comprised of purple line, green line and an intersection at the central station.

 Green line:

Green line of the Namma metro is figured to connect the north and the southern parts of the city. The 3 and 3A reach was inaugurated in 2014 to connect Peenya Industry area to Sampige Road. The Reach 4 and 4A that connects National College to R.V. Road and R.V. Road to Puttenahalli is still under construction.

Phase 2:

The phase 2 of the Namma metro was approved by the Union cabinet in 2014 and is expected to be open for public use by 2020. The project is to extend the existing lines and to add additional lines to reduce the traffic hazel in the city.

Relatively, reach 2 of the purple lane will be extended till Kengeri from the Nayandahalli and the reach 1 of the respective line will be extended till Whitefield from the Baiyyappanahalli.  Similarly, the Green line is to be stretched from Puttenahalli to Anjanapura and from Hesaraghatta cross to BIEC. Apart from above lines, two more (yellow and red) metro lines will be constructed as part of the project; R V Road to Bommasandra (yellow) and Gottigere to Nagavara (red).
