War of Words in LS Polls 2014: 5 Most Shocking Comments Made By Politicians

BANGALORE: Apart from the slogans for change, if anything noteworthy is witnessed during this election season, it is the way the politicians pitted against one another with outrageous remarks. In a way, the Lok Sabha polls this year have driven politicos into the fighting mode and here are the 10 shocking comments made by prominent politicians, as listed by Yahoo.

Modi's Gujarat—a 'toffee model': In an intense attack on BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi recently dubbed the Gujarat model propagated by Modi as a “toffee model”, saying it has benefited only one industrialist in the state and ignored the interests of the farmers and the poor. This Gandhi scion at a rally exclaimed, “Land of Aurangabad’s size 45,000 acres has been given for a mere 300 crore.

This is toffee model not Gujarat model. For Re 1, you get a toffee here. There land was sold at Re 1 per meter-it was the land of the poor and the farmers,” reports PTI.
On earlier occasions too, Rahul had mocked Modi's development model in Gujarat by calling it as a 'balloon' which will burst. He said a loan of 10,000 crore was given to build the Nano car. The amount is more than what is spent on health and education in Gujarat. Taking a dig at BJP’s campaign posters on empowering women, Gandhi said 20,000 women are “missing” in party-ruled Chhattisgarh.
