U.S. Healthcare Reform to Provide Jobs to Indians

Bangalore: The latest U.S. healthcare insurance bill ‘ObamaCare’ that will extend insurance cover to 32 million Americans is projected to open up ventures for Indian IT service providers, in addition to creating several job opportunities, reported C Shivakumar for The New Indian Express.

The implementation of the bill, ObamaCare, would lead to the U.S. spending $2.5 trillion, said Harshith Ramesh, president of Episource, a healthcare knowledge process outsourcing firm headquartered in California with delivery centres in Chennai and Mumbai.

He added that resultantly in order to cut costs, the maintenance and care of health records would be transferred to Indian outsourcing firms. It includes appropriate collection and management and use of information within healthcare systems that would decide effectiveness in detecting health problems, defining priorities, etc.

It is also believed that the demand for medical coding professionals will increase incredibly. Medical coding is the transformation of narrative descriptions of diseases, healthcare procedures and injuries into numeric or alphanumeric designations. The code numbers are detailed in order to precisely describe the diagnoses and the measures taken to test or correct these diagnoses.

It is also alleged that the income opportunity for IT companies because of Obamacare would be worth billions and Indian IT/BPO providers are expected to get 40-50 percent of the revenue.
