The Words 'We The People Of India' Emboldened For The 66th Time

BENGALURU: The free country we are gifted with today is the result of endless struggle and devoted services of the ‘real’ national leaders who envisioned a bright future for their fellow citizens. All of their efforts are cherished till date and that is why we Indians celebrate Republic Day with such exhilarating joy. This is the day we gave ourselves the Constitution and this is the day we pay tribute to the real heroes in the armed forces.

American President Barack Obama is the first ever who is going to grace the prestigious Republic Day Parade as the Guest of Honor. And apparently Obama has never attended an event of this kind ever. Obama recognized Dr. B. R. Ambedkar for his extra ordinary contributions to the Indian parliament in November 2010. Now he will be attending the most vibrant Republic Day Parade in the world that is delightful feast to the eyes which will be enjoyed by him.

Ambedkar struggled his lifetime to uplift the plight of Dalits, who were then referred to as untouchables and he being a dalit himself worked for equal representation of for everyone. He drafted the longest constitution of the world that redefined the values of democracy. We must also remember that even the American constitution was drafted on the lines of democracy. It would be helpful to understand the political history of both the nations ahead of Obama’s visit to India.

Preambles of both the nations go by the words “We the People of India” and “We The people of United States” and exemplify the values of democracy. Both the countries intend to invest the political power in the people. Likewise both the constitutions similarly guarantee the fundamental rights and ensure  individual freedom to all the citizens. India and U.S. are the only two largest democracies in the world whose preambles look to ensure justice, freedom, and liberty to their citizens.

Thus India and U.S. share a unique relation like no other two countries in the world. Having said that, the duo is solely responsible towards building stronger pillars for democracy that will guarantee equality and justice for centuries to come. On that note this Republic Day where representatives of both the nations meet will not be forgotten ever down the chronicles of history.
