The Men Who Protect India's Prime Minister


BANGALORE: Owing to the threat perception to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi from several terrorist outfits, a massive ground-to-air security apparatus has been deployed in the national capital, especially at Red Fort and surrounding areas where PM have unfurl the national flag and delivered his maiden Independence Day speech to the nation.

Over 30,000 security personnel, including those drawn from paramilitary forces guarded the national capital on the I-Day. On top of this, more than 20,000 Delhi Armed Police personnel and about 5,000 of the paramilitary forces men were deployed in central and New Delhi areas where most of the VIP movements took place before and after the celebrations.

In addition, over 7000 armed security men kept vigil in and around the Red Fort owing to the threat perception to the PM and other leaders. At the Red Fort, over 200 closed-circuit television cameras were installed while about 500 CCTVs have been installed on all routes leading to the venue.

Paramilitary forces personnel kept a special watch and stand guard at every road intersection to be used by the dignitaries to reach the venue. There was a special checking of all vehicles, both private and commercial, entering the city from the neighboring states through border entry points prior to  some days of the celebration.
