The Books That Forecast About the Future

BANGALORE: Human creativity is so powerful that it can break the time barrier. At times it goes on to such an extent that it directly corresponds or predicts what the future holds for humanity.

So far, the world has already come across many fictional books going into details about future inventions, technologies, and societal norms which during that particular period, no one had ever thought about.

Here are 6 such books as compiled by Megan Willett of Business Insider.

Gulliver's Travels:

A novel by Irish writer and clergyman Jonathan Swift, Gulliver's Travels is a fictional piece that is both a satirical writing on human nature and a parody of the "travelers’ tales". It is Swift's best known full-length work, and a classic of English literature.

The novel was written at a time when much of the world was not yet discovered. The story in this novel takes place between 1699 and 1715.

Gulliver, a surgeon, narrates his voyages to foreign lands and calls them: "Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World In Four Parts...by Lemuel Gulliver."

The novel is known as a classic children's story. It was originally received by audiences as merely a book of exciting adventure. People of that era enjoyed reading literature about travel into unknown lands, and it catered to that niche.

The book suggests some of the political themes from that period, including their love for satire. These themes are displayed throughout Gulliver's Travels, and also reflect upon today's society.
