BANGALORE: Even if many shows are being aired on television, only very few could carve a niche for themselves in viewers mind. Here we list such TV shows that could change the history of Indian Television as compiled by Business Insider.

Ramayan

This is one of the most popular and successful epic serial written and directed by Ramanand Sagar. Started in 1980 the 78 episode series was telecasted on Dooradarshan on every Sundays. The mythological serial stood first during those days with a viewership of over 100 million.

Hum Log

Hum Log was the first soap opera to be telecasted in India with its initial episode aired on 1984. This series included 156 episodes and each episode lasted for 30 minutes. Towards the end of the episode, actor Ashok Kumar narrated the ongoing story and situations to the viewers. The next episode would start by the introducing actors who played different roles continued by different Indian Languages versions of the word ‘Hum Log’
