Russia to Soon Unleash the Destroyer-Satan 2

BENGALURU: As the cold war for nuclear warhead is prevailing between nations, Russia recently added RS-20 in its list of arsenal to purge the growing conflict. RS-20 is also nicknamed as ‘Satan 2’ and according to North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) code the warhead is known as ‘SS-18 Satan’. This weapon is a new super heavy, thermonuclear-armed, Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile designed and fitted with a hypersonic glider warhead.

The production is expected to go as early as 2018 and is developed and designed by Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau, a research and design center in Russia which helps for the development of rocket and space technology. According to the designers, the Sarmat is architected to provide and fulfill nuclear deterrence tasks for Russian military. Russia’s Satan 2 weighs about 100 tons and has a capacity to carry 10 heavy or 16 lighter warheads, reports Economic Times.

This ultimate destroyer is more powerful than the bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the year 1945. Sarmat is taken for production to replace the cold war era, and RS-28 family of missiles by 2020. Satan 2 can reach dazzling speed of 7kmps making it undetectable to enemy radars; it has a strike range of 10,000km. Recently, U.S. and Russia signed an arms reduction agreement where both the countries agreed to dispose 34 tons of plutonium which is enough to fuel thousands of nuclear bombs.
