New Delhi: Citizens would now be able to file Right to Information (RTI) Act applications, first appeals and pay fees online, a statement said. According to the statement, the online RTI system was launched by Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V. Narayanasamy. It provides for online replies of RTI applications/first appeals, though replies could also be sent by regular post. The prescribed fees can be paid through Internet banking of State Bank of India and its associate banks as well as by credit/debit cards through the payment gateway of the bank linked to the site, said the statement. Speaking at the launch, Narayanasamy said though the facility has been provided to central ministries, the government would consider extending it to the subordinate and attached offices of the central government. The minister also appealed to the state governments to consider developing a similar facility of filing online RTI applications.
