Phillip Min Takes Over As U.S. Consul-General In Chennai


CHENNAI:  Phillip A Min, a career diplomat, took over as Consul-General of the US Consulate here today.

“In his over 27-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service, Consul-General Min has served in South America, Europe, East Asia, and South Asia, including posts in Brazil, Poland, Korea, Japan, Colombia, and Pakistan,” a press release from the office of the US Consulate-General said here.

“This is an exciting time to arrive in South India and for US-India relations as we explore together new opportunities to deepen and broaden our strategic partnership,” Min said.

Stating that he was “thrilled to return to South Asia,” Min said he was looking forward to “exploring the rich cultural diversity of the people of South India.”

He is a three-time recipient of the U.S. State Department’s ‘Superior Honor Award.’

Min’s predecessor was Jennifer McIntyre, who had a three-year stint here.
