Paytm Introduces Offline Transaction


BENGALURU: After adding kirana stores into its Business constraints, the Paytm has come up with a new experimental program, to attract customers who are not connected to the internet often. This project is to provide digital wallet service offline .An experimental work is going on as the Paytm is tied up with one of the top restaurant chain in India, as reported by ET.

Under the new pilot project, Paytm has tied up with Pizza Hut, where a customer can walk into any Pizza Hut restaurant in the country and can pay bills through the Paytm app. Customers just have to scan the QR code to pay the bills. This move by the Paytm is to replace physical transaction with its app.

This experimental tie up is to check the technology, that runs behind the offline and online transaction.  The module shall be made in such a way that, a customer can visit any restaurant that is listed in the application and pay the bill through the app. The company is said to tie up with retail store, restaurants and petrol pumps chains in the near future. Other than these sectors, Paytm is also planning to add in a public transport under the program, which might be initiated in the long run. 

According to the official of the Paytm, the pilot project has received a decent response, as 40 percent of the transactions are occurring through it. Vice- President of Paytm, Nitin Misra said, "The idea is very simple. We are creating more offline to online use cases for the wallet."
