PM To Do 'Shopping' Worth $5 Billion In The U.S.?

Bangalore: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seems to have a long shopping list which will supposedly bring goodness to India. PM’s shopping directory contains 6 aircraft, 37 helicopters and much more, reports Sudhi Ranjan Sen for NDTV.

The American defence equipment worth five billion US dollars is what the PM desires to gift the country. Among the hardware gears, India is looking out on purchasing six additional C-130 J Hercules Medium Lift Aircraft, 22 Apache Attack Helicopters, 15 Chinook Heavy Lift Helicopters and about 140 M-777 ultra-light towed Howitzers. The deal for all of these is expected to be finalized before the current financial year gets over.

The Apache Attack helicopters, crafted in the US, will substitute India’s age-old M-35 helicopters that will cost about $1.4 billion. The US has initiated the making of a new aircraft like the C-130 J Hercules.
