Bangalore: The World Championships and the 2012 London Olympics had something in store for everyone who took part in it and excelled on the grounds. Some took the gold right under the nose of many aspiring sporting spirits whereas others got the spotlight for being quite eccentric in their own way. Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom
Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom is the first women from India to ever make it to the Olympics for boxing. The 29 year old has won World Boxing Championships five times and the only women to win a medal in each of the six world championship. She kept the winning trend even at the Olympics brought home bronze for her phenomenal work in the ring in the 2012 Summer Olympics. England’s Nicola Adams fetched the Olympic gold in the flyweight category.

Spain’s Big Win
Spain has set a world record by consecutively winning the Euro Football Championship. The current head coach of Spain National football team, Vicente Del Bosque said on the team’s win, “We are talking about a great generation of footballers. They have roots. They know how to play because they come from a country that knows how to play,” as per yahoo.com.  Spain is also the reigning world champion after winning the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
