Nepal's Quake is One Among 8 Deadliest Earthquakes This Decade


BENGALURU: In a tragic echo of catastrophic events followed by the massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake in Nepal on 25th April, the death toll rises to an awful 3, 300 and still climbing. The estimates fear the worst and this earthquake is believed to be one of the deadliest in the ongoing decade. The earthquake was followed by as many as 34 aftershocks within 48 hours. Besides this decade is marked as the decade of deadliest attacks citing the mishaps which happened around the world.

The following are the tragic quakes that killed several hundreds of thousands of people that were preceded by the Nepal quake reported by USA Today:

The 7.9 magnitude quake that had struck Nepal led to a devastating aftermath. Besides the fact that Nepal as a country is sitting on the fault created by the Indian subcontinent plate which is moving towards the Eurasian plate which is prone to earthquakes; other factors that led to the massive damage is the densely populated land. And the world renowned Mt. Everest is now death bed for 66 deceased, following the quakes and avalanches. With 3, 218 people declared dead, the number of casualties is expected to rise rapidly.
