Mumbai Ranks 6th among 10 Global Cities with Most Billionaires

Bangalore: Mumbai is among the world's top 10 cities with the maximum number of billionaires, said a study by the leading research agency WealthInsight. The financial capital takes the sixth position on the list, reported Kounteya Sinha for TNN.

As per the survey Mumbai has more billionaires in India than in Los Angeles or Shanghai. Mumbai has 26 billionaires to boast of. It was noted that New York topped the list with 70 billionaires, followed by Moscow with 64 billionaires and London with 54. Hong Kong followed with 40 billionaire and Beijing with 29.

The list also had Istanbul at the seventh place with 24 billionaires. Shanghai (23), Paris (22) and Los Angeles (19) rounded off the eighth, ninth and tenth position respectively.

However, on another list of top 20 cities with maximum millionaires, no Indian city was named. The list was topped by Tokyo with 4.6 lakh millionaires. But in terms of countries, India was seen at the 11th place with regard to overall number of millionaires. U.S. topped that list with a massive 5,231 billionaires in 2012.

It was also seen that China and India have been chosen as the countries to look out for by 2020, with China ready to become the second largest wealth market in the world.
