Most Expensive Shopping Streets in the World

Bangalore: A popular saying goes “shop till you drop” and this may indeed hold good for the shopaholics who can’t resist themselves from over-exceeding their shopping list. And if you are one of those who love to splurge on big labels, then you certainly must visit the most expensive shopping streets in the world that offer the biggest brands and glamorous window displays. Here are the most expensive shopping streets in the world, as listed by Brooke Saward for worldofwanderlust.com.

Fifth Avenue, New York City:
Fifth Avenue is a main street in the center of the borough of Manhattan, New York City. Lined with prestigious shops, it is consistently ranked among the most expensive shopping streets in the world. It was also ranked the most expensive street in the world in 2008 by Forbes magazine. Some of the most in demand real estate on Fifth Avenue are the penthouses perched atop the buildings. The American Planning Association (APA) had compiled a list of “2012 Great Places in America” and declared Fifth Avenue to be one of the greatest streets to visit in the U.S.

However, the "most expensive street in the world" tag changes depending on currency fluctuations and local economic conditions from year to year.

Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay Area:
Another expensive shopping street is Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay Area. It is a heavily built-up area of Hong Kong, located on the Hong Kong Island, and covering parts of Wan Chai and Eastern districts. The rent in the shopping areas of Causeway Bay was ranked as the world's most expensive after overtaking New York's Fifth Avenue last year.
