Meet Pranav Dhanawade, the Cricketer who is 1009 Not-Out

BANGALORE: 15year old son of an auto-rickshaw driver left the nation awe-struck hitting an unbelievable 1009 not-out at an inter-school tournament. Mumbai Cricket Association organized Bhandari Cup inter-school cricket tournament where a young Indian school boy entered the history books. The young cricketer, Pranav Dhanawade, set a record achieving this virtually impossible score and became the first ever cricketer to have hit a four-figure score. It is evident that his incredible career has just begun, reports Indian Express.

“I wanted to score big runs. I remember my coach telling me that no one will take me in the Mumbai team if I score these hundreds and two-hundreds. After all, I don’t play on the Mumbai circuit. The facilities are not that great here but at least this knock will help me get recognition and a chance to represent Mumbai,” said Pranav who smashed 59 sixes and 127 fours in 395 minutes.

The ground started to attract more crowd as the news reached people that he might cross the 1000 mark.

The tournament took place at the Wayle Nagar in western Kalyan. Majority of the players in the tournament were younger to Dhanawade representing the K C Gandhi Higher Secondary School and Arya Gurukul.

Dhanawade achieved this unbeaten score off 323 deliveries breaking a 116 year old record of 628 set by Arthur Collins in 1899. His team achieved victory with 1465 runs. Akash Singh from his team scored the second highest with 173 runs.

A world record of scoring a highest individual score in all forms of cricket was already set on the first day where Dhanawade was on 652 unbeaten.

Soon the media houses and politicians rushed to the venue to congratulate the young player and without any delay, the son of an auto rickshaw driver achieved the status of a celebrity. The proud father mobbed by his fellows celebrated the victory of his son with Indian flags.

The social media flooded with messages and good wishes for him. However, one form the God (Sachin Tendulkar) himself stood out from the rest.

Here’s how twitter paid him a tribute:
