LS Polls 2014: Here are the Prominent Winners

BANGALORE: India's general elections have come to an end with results showing a comfortable win for the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Every election throws winners and losers. So, let us have a look at the big names that emerged as winners in the 2014 elections.

Narendra Modi: BJP's Parliamentary leader Narendra Modi, in the 16th Lok Sabha polls emerges as the most victorious political leader. He won Vadodara in Gujarat by a record three lakh votes over his Congress rival Madhusudan Mistry in Vadodara.

Apart from Vadodara, Modi also won from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with a landslides victory by nearly 1.5 lakh votes where he is pitted against Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and Ajay Rai of Congress.
As triumphs go, a one-time tea seller winning the right to rule India is bigger than any other politician. But, Modi’s life has always been about squeezing out dubious victories, whether big and small. He made his own luck so effective that his rise to country’s top post had a sense of certainty about it. The designated Prime Minister of India, Modi will be sworn in on 26 May 2014.
