'King' Kejiriwal or 'Queen' Bedi: Whose Delhi Is It?

BENGALURU: The due date for Delhi polls is around the corner and curtains are closed for campaigning. The city is getting ready to go and cast its vote on February 7. The question that bothers the whole nation is who is going to reign the much valued Delhi’s throne. Who will rule Delhi—King? Or the Queen?

The recent surveys are clearing all the apparitions on Delhi elections. Clearly, Aam Admi Party's leader Arvind Kejriwal hasn't lost his edge yet on Delhi voters, despite his dramatic resignation he staged last year after assuming power. His campaign this year evens out the wrong steps he took last year. There is something he has done right in the current campaign to retain his 'trust' among voters.

Amit Shah’s strategies for Modi during the Lok Sabha elections worked wonders, but roping Kiran Bedi for this election does not seem like one of his master strategies. There are several apprehensions about her political expertise as she is a former bureaucrat who did not have any experience of fighting elections like Kejiriwal. Having said that, Kiran Bedi has the edge over strong BJP and Modi factor, therefore it is difficult to outshine her prospects of winning over Kejiriwal.

Chances are 50-50 with AAP being the dark horse of the upcoming polls and there is a wide possibility of hung assembly with seats being shared between BJP and AAP—both parties are trying to outdo each other to win the most-priced Delhi voter.

On one hand the lower middle class is all forgiving and all willing to give ‘the common man’ another chance, who is believed to promote healthier democracy in the capital. On the other hand there is Kiran Bedi, India’s toughest lady who is admired by many for her personal achievements and diktat.

There are several important factors that like scams  leave the voters confused. Against all such apprehensions and illegitimate claims by the leaders, Delhi voters have a responsible decision to make ahead of them, for their better future.

While the questions may affect the pattern of voting on Feb 7, precision will emerge only on Feb 10 when Delhi, the historic battleground gets its ruler.
