India's 6 Medal Hope Athletes In CWG 2014


BANGALORE: The Glasgow edition of the 20th Commonwealth games kicked off on the 23rd of July. The event is hosted ever 4 years that comprises of countries formally colonized by Britain. The CWG will see close to 5000 athletes from 71 nations, battling out to see who goes home with the most medals.

This year’s edition of the commonwealth games has some changes with respect to the number of medal events that are reduced for shooting and wrestling. India hopes to repeat another good show and come back with over a 100 medals like it did back in 2010 and to do this India is betting on some key performers.

Abhinav Bhindra: A man with remarkable skills with the gun brought glory to India back in the 2008 Olympics help in Beijing, China. It brought him fame and glory as he was the first Indian in that event of the Olympics to secure a gold medal for India.

Since then he went on to win a gold in the Asian games held in Doha (2012) and doubles event in commonwealth (2010) held in India. He also won a silver medal in the same event for singles. He will be hoping to hit the bull’s eye again this year at Glasgow as this will be his last appearance in commonwealth games.

Gagan Narang: An athlete who just recovered from a career threatening injury will hope to bring back some medals for his country. He is a fine shooter who will be taking part in 50m 3p and prone event. He has a good amount of medals in his collection with four Gold medals coming from the previous Commonwealth Games here in India.

He is a gold medalist at Changwon 2009 and Guangzhou 2006 World Cups, bronze medalist at the London winter Olympics and the Munich World cup.
