India's 10 Most Reputed Companies

Bangalore: Tata Motors has emerged as the most reputed company in India as per the latest round of the Corporate Image Monitor survey by Nielsen. The survey measures the reputation of leading corporates. Aditya Birla Group, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Industries Limited and Tata Steel follow to round off the top five.

The survey tracked the reputation of 32 companies in India based on what they offered in terms of service levels, product quality, financial performance and talent pool. Tata Motors was given the highest rating for “innovative techniques, providing reliable products and striving for excellence” in the 11th Corporate Image Monitor survey.  The company had ranked second in the last year's list.

The new entrants in the list are ITC, ICICI Bank and Hero MotoCorp Ltd., which take the eighth, ninth and tenth position respectively. Tata Steel and Wipro have dropped from first to fifth and fourth to seventh position respectively, compared to the previous year. Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL), and HDFC Bank also figured in the list of top 10 firms.

Dinesh Kapoor, Executive Director, Nielsen India said “The Corporate Reputation Index is a testament to a brand’s reputation, by people that matter most to it. For stakeholders, this implies they feel the brand is reliable, and sustainable in difficult times.”

The survey suggested that the strongest elements driving corporate reputation are what it offers to the customers- its service levels and its product quality. Certain ‘excitement factors’ such as innovation, pace of growth and the extent of media visibility also play a subliminal role in shaping reputations.
