Indians Who Brought Glory To The Country At Olympics 2012

Bangalore: Here are India’s Olympic medal winners, who did the country proud in London Olympics 2012. If there is anything missing, it is a gold, however, the performance of these Indians is commendable.

Sushil Kumar:

Sushil Kumar won India its sixth and final medal of the 2012 London Olympics after settling for silver in the final of the Men's 66kg Freestyle Wrestling event. The wrestler created history by becoming the first Indian to win back-to-back Olympic medals. With the addition of Sushil's silver medal, India finished their engagements in the 30th edition. Sushil, who was cheered by the flag-waving Indian spectators, was down with dehydration when he took the mat for the final and that had a bearing on his performance.

He reached the final after defeating Akzhurek Tanatarov of Kazakhstan in the semi-finals, and was beaten by Japan's Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu 3-1 in a short and swift final bout.

"It was bronze in Beijing, and now it's a silver. So we are gradually going up and may be in the next Olympics, I will be able to win the gold medal," Sushil said. He said he dedicated the silver medal to his coach Satpal, parents, friends and the entire support staff.
