Indian MPs Take Political Feud to the U.S., Urge Not To Revoke Ban on Modi

Bangalore: The U.S. has emerged as a preferred destination for the political leaders of India to voice their opinion against each other. This was all the more evident in the Narendra Modi visa issue where Rajnath Singh, the BJP President is battling with the U.S. to withdraw the visa denial imposed on Modi. On the other hand 65 Indian lawmakers have urged the U.S. President Barack Obama not to repeal the ban on the Gujarat Chief Minister, reported Chidanand Rajghatta for TOI.

The letter submitted by 65 Indian leaders, mostly Muslims, to the U.S. President was a deliberately leaked letter by the Indian-American Muslim Council that insisted on not withdrawing the ban on Modi from visiting U.S. as he was considered as the main accused behind the 2002 communal riots. The letter was leaked on the eve of Rajnath Singh's visit to the U.S. capital. The visit was mainly aimed as a move by the BJP to revoke the ban on Modi, who is increasingly being seen as BJP's PM candidate.
