India Rises To The Ice Bucket Challenge


BANGALORE: The current hype on social media is the chaotic popularity of people dousing themselves with ice water. This phenomenon has become so viral around the globe that, celebrities, sport stars, CEOs and high-ranking officials have taken the challenge to brave the ice water.

The challenge was accepted by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, The Rock, Justin Timberlake, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Pratt, to name a few. CEOs of the biggest companies in the world have challenged each other like Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos and even Bill Gates, who was nominated by Facebook’s CEO Mark.

The football world was not far behind with world class players like Cristiano Ronaldo, who was challenged by ex-team mate Darren Fletcher, Marcelo, Neymar, and Dani Alves, to name a few have all taken the challenge in support of Awareness for ALS.

This viral act was a craze in India as well where Rohan Bopanna challenged the Bangalore Football Club, after he doused himself with ice water. The BFC along with their boss, Mustafa Ghouse accepted the challenge and were seen seated in a row on the ground as ice water was dumped on them, they in turn have challenged Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, Badminton Ace Ashwini Ponnappa and tennis star Sania Mirza.

There are many questions lingering behind this whole act like what is it all about? Why waste water for a petite gimmick act? Why waste water in the name of charity? What is this madness? Just a few questions that were picked up from the web, which after reading the article, might change the skeptics.
