Heart Ailments Rampant 73 percent of Bangaloreans


Bangalore: Three out of every four Bangaloreans above the age of 30 are likely to suffer from cardiac ailments. This has become a matter of distress for a city that takes pride in its physically fit people.

The survey includes insights from 1.85 lakh 30-plus urban Indians, reports The Times of India. The study says that the statistics of Bangalore is similar to the overall national figure.  About 73 percent urban Indians suffer from the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

But on the other hand, Bangalore fares better than other cities when it comes to the intake of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fatty and processed foods.

The report states that Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Hyderabad are the worst hit cities where about 74 percent of the populace experience CVD risks.
