Even Building Basements Can Be Turned To Schools If You Have the Will to Study

Bangalore: In India, to gain basic education is still a dream for many kids and the harsh realities of life prevent them from fulfilling their dreams. India is a land of poor and rich; on one side you can find 6 year old kids playing with latest gadgets and on the other side you can see kids of the same age with their dreams shattered, forced to compromise for a living.

Although education is compulsory for all children in our country, not every child gets a chance to step into school. Many kids are pushed to work at a very young age due to poverty in the family.

A Gurgaon based NGO; Bagiya uses basements as a part of its program to educate children of construction workers and rickshaw pullers. The NGO was started in the year 2007 by Shilpa Sonal, a housewife with a vision to change the society, as reported by Meenakshi Upreti of CNN-IBN.

Sonal initially started this program in the front lawns of her house with a handful of students. The NGO Bagiya aims at educating children with Basic English, so that they can be sent to schools.
