Dhoni, the 'Captain Cool' Caught in Controversies

Bangalore: In a cricket crazy nation like India, who wouldn’t wish they too were destined a fate as that of Mahendra Singh Dhoni? From a small town boy to one of the most celebrated cricketers and captain of the Indian team, Dhoni is the most successful sportsperson of this generation in India. He is a man of simple taste, good values and a firm belief in his own ability.

Today, Dhoni endorses more products than even Shah Rukh Khan, the 'king' of Bollywood, if market sources are to be believed. He has endorsed variety of products ranging from just  health drinks to telecom services, ceiling fans to wristwatches etc, to name some. To his credit, he has bagged 22 endorsements  and this has made him the most sought after sportsperson and also the celebrity in the Indian market.

The most recent controversy of cricket- spot-fixing during the IPL 6 matches has to a very large extent tarnished the image of the game of cricket and sportsperson associated with it. This controversial spot fixing which acts like a slow poison has started to inflict many people including the most noble men of Indian cricket. The media feels that Dhoni follows the policy of most of the Indian policiticians i.e.to just give a smile without giving any comments on any ongoing controversies. So, the saying “Honesty is the best policy”, is no longer applied instead most of them feel “ Silence is the best and the safest policy”.
