Dharavi Girls Create Innovative Apps to Lift Their Quality of Live

MUMBAI: Breaking the hundred year old myth that slums are the breeding grounds for crime are the brilliant young girls from Asia’s largest slum—Dharavi. A team of three school girls in the age group of 12 to 13 have created apps which are meant to uplift their living conditions in the neighborhood. From water to women’s safety, these girls have come up with applications which could help improve the living conditions, as reported by Times of India.

The app called Paani Hai Jeevan which requires you to register yourself and check for notifications to know the best time to fetch water from communal tap to avoid congestion and cut the long queues. This app is not live on any app store as yet. The other app is designed with the idea of women’s safety in mind as they themselves have witnessed the worst kind of atrocities that can happen to a woman. And they are also wise enough to recognize the need for development; they developed a primary school lesson app to enlighten the slum people about the basic education.
