Delhi Offers Affordable Airport Transportation In India: Survey


MUMBAI: When it comes to most affordable and convenient ways to reach your destination in the country, New Delhi offers the most affordable taxis for travelers from the airport to the city centre, covering 17.70 Kilometres in 500, according to a recent survey. It takes about 35 minutes from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the capital city to reach the city centre, online accommodation booking website the Hotels.Com 'Airport Transportation Insider' survey said. 


Further it said, in Delhi the local taxi costs around 500 and for travelers looking for mass transit. The Metro is one of the fastest ways to commute in the city. Recently a Superfast Airport Express has also been introduced to connect the airport with the central part of New Delhi, which costs 30 to 100 depending on the distance, it added.

New Delhi is followed by the financial capital of the country Mumbai, where it takes approximately 20 minutes to reach the city centre that is about 11 kilometres and costs about 350. Yellow Black taxis, auto rickshaws along with the local trains and buses are available for travelers commuting. 
When it comes to Bengaluru, travelers will have to pay 1,050 with the average time of 1 hour 20 minutes by cab covering a distance of 34 kilometres from the airport to the city centre, it said. 

Among the international destinations the survey found that Bangkok offers the most affordable taxis for travelers from the airport to the city centre, covering 27.35 kilometres in 491. Bangkok is followed by Beijing, Mexico City, Singapore and Rio de Janeiro, where transportation from the airport to the city centre is offered at a price below 1,200. 

The London Heathrow airport is one of the busiest airports of the world and a cab from the airport to the city centre would cost around 6,700, while a pocket friendly alternative would be to use the mass transit at 552. Other airports offering affordable mass transit options are Mexico City at 22, while the TransMilenio bus in Bogota the capital city of Colombia costs about 61. Travelers in Singapore prefer to use the MRT rail, which costs approximately 61.
