Cambridge Varsity Collaborates with India to Develop Non-Conventional Drugs


Bangalore: Cambridge University, a public research university in United Kingdom is all set to tie up with India to establish new drugs for treating cancer and other diseases in a non-conventional method.

The combined research will be carried out at the Centre for Chemical Biology and Therapeutics (CCBT), that will be inaugurated at the National Centre for Biological Science and in STEM campus in Bangalore, reports Vanita Srivastava for Hindustan Times.

The integrated multidisciplinary research centre is intended to initiate latest approaches to develop small-molecule apparatus that looks out for novel classes of targets.  The research is aimed at developing innovative scientific methods for treating various diseases.

Professor Leszek Borysiewicz, Cambridge University vice chancellor said, "We will work together to jointly find ways to identify the missing targets towards treatment of diseases like cancer and other infections with new drugs in a much different and novel manner from the conventional methods," reports HT.
