Bengaluru Ranks 17th Among The Best Performing Districts

BENGALURU: Considering the consistent improvement in the service delivery time in two weeks, Nada Kacheris in Bidar district has jumped ranks from 29 to 23 in the revenue department’s latest raking system, reports TOI.

Bidar had been showing improvement in the performance and is determined to land amongst the best performing districts. However, Bengaluru hasn’t nudged from its previous position and is stuck on the rank 17.

The ranking system evaluates the districts on the account of the time taken in delivering a certain service. The particular time taken is referred to as the Disposal Index(DI). Districts that succeed to deliver services within the stipulated time have DI in positive whereas the ones who fail to meet the time given receive negative in DI. Since working on the old pending issues seems helpless, Bidar has been functioning on the newer ones at a fast pace.

"We are confident that more districts will become competitive like Bidar," Munish Moudgil , commissioner of Survey, Settlement & Land Records, revenue department, told.

The leading rank on the list has been secured by Ramanagaram with a disposal index of 1.82227 where Tumakuru found the bottom of the list with a DI of -3.16619. Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Vijayapura and Belagavi secured the second, third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. Bengaluru with a DI of 0.0765 is at rank 17.

However, officers in Bengaluru can disagree with the ranking system as Belagavi ranked fifth with 48,385 applications whereas it ranked 17th with lesser (48,193) applications.

"The way performance was measured earlier was very ad hoc. A formal procedure did not exist. The office with highest pendency will be called the worse, which was wrong," he said.
