Amazing Facts About India On 68th Independence Day


BANGALORE: A Very Happy Independence Day to all! The most auspicious day in the Indian history-the day India got freedom. India will celebrate its 68th Independence Day, but celebrating is not quite enough sometimes.  Do you know what makes India different and unique from other countries?

(#) Every Indian is proud on its country, but do you know how India derived its name? ‘India’ got its name from the River Indus where the early settler made their homes. Although the name, Bharat came from Sanskrit originated name “Bharat Ganarajya.”

(#) It was 7th August, 1906 when the National flag was hoisted for the very first time at Parsee Bagan Square in Calcutta. The flag possessed horizontal strips of red, yellow and green. The red strip at the top had eight white lotuses imprinted on it in a row. The green strip had a white sun on the left and a white hemispherical star on the right.
