A Story Unseen is Now Revealed-Krishna Routh, From Boxer To A Sweeper




BENGALURU:  The pride of a country is from its heroes and not the celebrity charms. It is truly of a national shame as one of our National- level boxer, Krishna Routh, is left unrecognized of his talent. The consequence of which has reduced him to a sweeper in Howrah, reports IBN.

It was in 1987, Krishna marked a stepping stone in the world of boxing. At the age of 15, he won the gold medal at the All India Invitational Boxing Championship and it is today at the age of 43, Routh earns a little over 200 to make a livelihood.

He lives in a one-room house along with his wife and three children, apart from all the hardships he also has to take care of his brother who is currently suffering from tuberculosis.
Explaining his misery Routh said-“I do a temporary job with the municipal corporation as a casual employee. My daily wages are 232, but I sometimes get 4000 or 5000 a month. And I have to feed the entire family,”

he further adds, "I don't get proper wages. My son and daughter are studying, and it is difficult to pay for their studies. If my job is permanent, I will be able to better take care of their educational needs,” he says.
While trying to seek help from the government, all he had to experience is unfulfilled promises and disappointment.

It was the effort of media and social networking sites that Routh’s terrible condition is brought into light, because of which the Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar came forward to support Routh.

“Athletes play for the country and win medals for their nation. So it's the responsibility of the country that once his playing career is over, he is well taken care, especially by the department [he works for]," said Sushil Kumar

So for a man who is struggling hard to suffice a living and earn a day’s meal, is an exceptional zeal.
Will government wake up and see the misery of Krishna Routh is a worth a wait!!
