88 Percent Crorepati MLAs in Maharashtras's New Assembly


BENGALURU: Maharashtra or Haryana—‘Kaun Banega Crorepati? ’ The new legislative assemblies seem to be competing with each other as to which of the them have more number of Member of Legislative Assemblies crorepatis. Maharashtra beats Haryana with 253 MLAs being declared as crorepatis.

253 out of the 288 MLAs in Maharashtra assembly are said to possess assets worth more than 1 crore.  Out of which, 80 of them have assets worth more than 10 crore and 10 with assets exceeding 50 crore. Malabar Hill MLA, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, tops the list having declared his assets to be worth 198 crore. He is followed closely by a Samajwadi party candidate, Abu Azmi, elected from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency, with declared assets of over Rs 156 crore.

Surprisingly, legislators with the highest liabilities are the BJP's Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi's Hitendra Thakur, and BJP's Ashish Deshmukh of Malabar Hill, Vasai and Katol constituencies respectively.
