8 Most Controversial Gurus Of India


BANGALORE: One side they’ll speak about spirituality, humanity, benevolence and mankind, on the other hand sexual abuse, black marketing, hoarding and bluffing is their prime business. They are the “controversial Gurus” in India.

They are on top of conman list; apart from breaking the trust of their followers, they have looted nation’s wealth in big times. Some of them got the punishment for their crimes, putting them behind the bars but some of them are still bragging outside in the society without any fear. 

What made them so fearless? Is it their immense wealth or the support of political power or it’s your meek and feeble believes? And if you want to get awaken and know more about these so called Gurus and the real bluff masters by profession, here is the list as compiled by rediff.com.

1. Sant Rampal

On top of the list is the newly arrested, Sant Rampal, the most controversial Indian religious leader of Kabir panth, often described as a self-styled godman. After resigning the job of junior engineer in 1996, in 1999, Rampal founded the Satlok Ashram in Karontha village of Rohtak district, drawing on his following from within the Kabir panth.

In 2006, he criticized Dayanand Saraswati, the founder of the Arya Samaj, this angered the followers of Arya Samaj, who surrounded his ashram, eventually resulting in a clash between the followers of two sects on 12 July 2006. During the clash, a person was shot dead, and 59 more were injured. Rampal was charged with murder and attempt to murder, and jailed for 22 months.

In 2014, the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Rampal and was finally arrested on the night of November 19th, 2014, along with 492 of his followers, on charges including sedition, murder, attempt to murder, conspiracy, hoarding illegal weapons and aiding and abetting suicide-mongers.

It was surprising to see that this Baba was hoarding lot of luxurious items including fleet of luxury cars at his house when there are lot of human beings who are starving and don’t even get food for two times.
