Mother Teresa

Original Name: Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu

Mother Teresa was born on 26 August, 1910 in Macedonia her father was a noted politician in Albania. Her selfless work among the poverty-stricken people of India got her global recognition. Mother Teresa devoted her entire life in serving the needy and abandoned people of the society especially in India.

After going through a brief training at the Institute of Blessed Virgin Mary in Dublin, Teresa came to India. On May 24, 1931 she took her initial vows as a nun. She went on to serve the downtrodden of the society and founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata and later attained Indian citizenship. Besides the Nobel Peace Prize, she was also awarded with Ramon Magsaysay and Padmashri Award for her social works.
