2 Indian Cities That Could Disappear Under Water By 2070


BANGALORE: A natural disaster is a major adverse event, resulting from natural processes of the Earth; resulting in floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other geologic processes. The severity of a disaster is measured in lives lost, economic loss, and the ability of the population to rebuild. A list compiled by business and financial market news website Bloomberg includes the cities that can submerge under water by 2070. Ten of them are mentioned here.

 HAIPHONG, Vietnam:

The third largest city of Vietnam, Haiphong is the most important seaport of northern Vietnam. In 1881 one of the most catastrophic natural disasters in history and the third deadliest tropical cyclone ever recorded , which  flooded the city of Haiphong and killed an estimated 300,000 inhabitants.

In 2005, Haiphong was struck by a strong Pacific typhoon and caused more than 150 deaths in Vietnam, almost half of them in Haiphong.

The current exposed population of Haiphong is 794,000 that are expected to be 4,711,000 in future. According to 2009 census, Haiphong's average annual population growth rate was given as 4.0percent.

MIAMI, U.S.:

The 42nd largest city in the United States is Miami that is located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Florida. Miami is a major center and a leader in finance, commerce, culture, media, entertainment, arts, and international trade.

During the hurricane season, Miami is at the risk of stuck by a tornado. Although tornadoes are uncommon in the Miami area, a tornado struck the city in 1925 and again in 1997.

The current population of Miami is 2,003,00 and the future exposed population is 4,795,000. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Miami's metro area is the eighth most populous and fourth-largest urban area in the U.S.
