11 Young Global Leaders from India


Bangalore: 11 Indians have made it to the outstanding Young Global Leaders (YGLs) list for 2012 by the World Economic Forum (WEF). A total of 192 young global leaders were selected from across the world for their professional accomplishments. The Indians in this year’s list include McKinsey’s director Alok Kshirsagar; Chhavi Rajawat, Sarpanch of a village in Rajasthan; Harvard University professor Sendhil Mullainathan, senior official at PMO Binoy Job etc. Some of the eminent personalities honored in the past include Larry Page of Google, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Indian politicians Sachin Pilot, Deepinder Hooda and Jyotiradita Scindia etc. The selection committee selected the 193 young leaders from a pool of several thousand candidates from 59 countries. The committee was chaired by Queen Rania of Jordan and members representing international leaders from business, government and media.

1. Alok Kshirsagar

Alok Kshirsagar, is the Director (Senior Partner) McKinsey & Company, the global management consulting firm. He worked with many of the leading private and public institutions during his time at New York, London and Mumbai offices of the firm. He now heads the leads the McKinsey Asia Centre - a unique initiative to help Asian and Western companies capture the value of globalization. He has shown a great commitment to the society by offering his expertise to help the public policy in India as he co-leads relationships with the Ministry of Finance, the Economic Advisory Council to the PM, the planning commission and the Reserve Bank of India. He is also a member of the Next Gen Leaders Board at the Indian School of Business and is on the board of Parliamentary Research Services (PRS), the Governing Council and the National Association for the Blind. He has a bachelor’s degree from St.Xavier’s College, Mumbai where he was a National Merit Scholar and did his further studies at Oxford University where he was an Inlaks Scholar.
