Karondi, the centre of India:

Karondi near Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh is declared as central point of the India.

Earlier the English rulers considered Nagpur as the centre of India and constructed the Zero Mile Stone Pillar as a historical monument. After partition the geographical centre shifted to Karondi, Madhya Pradesh.

There is a small memorial which says this is the centre of India. The memorial is nothing but a cement replica of Emperor Ashoka’s four headed lion.

However, neither of the two points-Nagpur and Karondi-are well known.

Kanyakumari is not the southernmost tip of India:

Some people might think that Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of India, but it is not true. Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of the Indian subcontinent

Indira Point, at Great Nicobar is the southernmost point of Republic of India. Great Nicobar is the largest of the Nicobar Islands of India. Unfortunately Indira Point was severely destroyed by the December 26, 2004 tsunami and submerged under water.

It was formerly known by various names that include Pygmalion Point, Parsons Point, and for a brief period India Point.
