#1.Norman Ernest Borlaug

Norman Ernest Borlaug was an American biologist, humanitarian and Nobel laureate who has been called "the father of the Green Revolution", "agriculture's greatest spokesperson" and "The Man Who Saved A Billion Lives". He is one of seven people to have won the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal and was also awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honor.

Borlaug developed semi-dwarf, high-yield, disease-resistant wheat varieties and soon introduced these crops to Mexico, India and Pakistan greatly improving the food security in those nations. During the mid-1960s, the Indian subcontinent was at war and experiencing widespread famine and starvation. He is recognized with saving the lives of over a billion people worldwide from starvation.

#2.Richard Lewisohn

German born Richard Lewisohn, a surgeon at the Mount Sinai Hospital, New York, introduced the modern technique of blood transfusion in 1913, a discovery that is credited with saving over 1 billion lives. This discovery led the ability to store blood outside the body for later use without it clotting, and led to the establishment of a worldwide system of blood banks.
