10 Indian Women Whose Stories Paved The Way For Women Equality


BANGALORE: At a time long pasted, women were undervalued in the eyes of the general public and although society has now awoken to the woes of women, a part of it continues to slumber in darkness.

The existence of these women, who strived to make a difference, broke their fettered states, thereby changing the course of history, reports Polka Café.

And Even though it is a proven fact that women are phenomenal, here are 10 stories to tell why

Kadambini Ganguly & Chandramukhi Basu

In the year 1883, India swelled with pride on receiving its first two female graduates Chandramukhi Basu & Kadambini Ganguli from the University Of Calcutta. These two bright girls attained their Bachelor's degrees in Arts from Bethune College.

Ganguly who pursed medicine was awarded a GBMC (Graduate of Bengal Medical College) degree where she became the first Indian woman doctor qualified to practice western medicine. On the other hand, who earned the position of Principal in Bethune College became the first female head of an undergraduate academic institution in South Asia.
