Andhra Pradesh takes the fourth spot showing considerable signs of improvement in the sex ratio over the last decade. The state has a ratio of 992 women per 1000 men as recorded in the 2011 census results. In the 2001 census the state showed a ratio of 978 women per 1000 men. An increase of +14 is seen in sex ratio in a decade. The report mentions that the decline of the sex ratio is due to the biased attitude the society carries towards women, which mainly occurs in places with inadequate education.

Tamil Nadu shows a considerable rise in sex ratio, which has given the state third place on the list. The ratio estimated by 2011 census is 995 women per 1000 men and it was 986 women per 1000 men in 2001. The state shows an increase of +9 over the last ten years. Apart from presenting the sex ratio the report also brings forth the causes for the change in gender composition. They can be summed up as social, cultural and economic patterns that have created the difference in the number of men and women in a country.
