With the advancement in technology and lot of resources, women are not much behind the men in any field of life.

But what about decades ago, when people hardly had computers in their house or industry? There are some women back then who revolutionized the world with their enormous innovations in the technology.  Here is the list of 10 female inventors who had contributed immensely to power the information technology, compiled by BuzzFeed.

1. Grace Hopper (December 9, 1906 – January 1, 1992)

Grace Hopper was an American computer scientist and United States Navy rear admiral. She was one of the first programmers of the Harvard Mark I computer in 1944, and invented the first compiler for a computer programming language. She also revolutionized the idea of machine-independent programming languages, which led to the development of COBOL, one of the first high-level programming languages.

She is recognized for popularizing the term "debugging" for fixing computer glitches. Owing to her accomplishments and her marine rank, she is sometimes referred to as "Amazing Grace". The U.S. Navy Arleigh Burke class guided-missile destroyer USS Hopper (DDG-70) is named for her, so is the Cray XE6 "Hopper" supercomputer at NERSC.
