Worst Natural Disasters That Shook India


BANGALORE: Three centuries prior to independence, Indian rupee was equal to $32. Since then on India witnessed rapid changes owing to political and economic transitions. Yet, Mother Nature does not give up daunting the already broken nation.

Indian has been a victim of various natural calamities since ages now. These ‘acts of God’ are devastating and the after effects last beyond decades. In a country as large as India, it is indeed difficult to rehabilitate thousands who are left abandoned. Decade after decade India has been hit hard by unexpected calamities for which we can say India is not ready for.

In the wake of the recent Hud Hud Cyclone which struck the eastern coastal belt of India, here we give you the glimpse of such devastating disasters which could send chills down your spine:

Deccan Famine (1632-33):

This is the worst human kind could ever face. This is when the streets resembled grave yards where vultures were virtually found feeding on the corpses. As many as two million Indians died by the end of 1633. Three consecutive crop failures, leading to intense hunger added with epidemics, displacement in the region compounded to this unfortunate situation.

One cannot possible give any genuine reason as to why all those 2 million innocent civilians had to die of hunger, even though they are not at fault. Can we blame God for this? Or leave it for Karma?
