Hollywood, Fashion World Pay Homage To Oscar De La Renta


LOS ANGELES: Calling him a 'gentleman' and 'artiste', Hollywood stars and fashion world personalities have taken to social networking sites to pay their respects to style icon and renowned fashion designer Oscar de la Renta. The designer died at the age of 82, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Fellow designers, such as Brian Atwood, Zac Posen and Christian Siriano, have posted tributes to the groundbreaking designer and his inspiring creations, along with celebrities like Taylor Swift, Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Garner who have worn his creations.

"My all-time favourite designer has passed away. Oscar, it was an honour to wear your creations and to know you. In loving memory," said Swift, posting a photo of herself wearing a de la Renta dress.

"So sad the passing of Fashion Icon Oscar de la Renta. Genius and a gentleman. His artistry will live forever!" said Atwood. Designer Christian Siriano, said, "Very sad to hear of the passing of Oscar De La Renta. He was a master, and an inspiration to me and so many other artists. He made beauty."

'Avatar' star Zoe Saldana, tweeted, "Iconic legendary genius, gone but definitely not forgotten #OscarDeLaRenta. My heart goes out to the De La Renta family."

Remembering the designer as a lover of women, actress Jennifer Garner, said, "He was just gracious and elegant and a gentleman. Mr De la Renta loved women. And you saw it in every design that he did. He honoured women's features, he honoured our bodies.

"And I was just lucky to get to wear his designs and get to know him a little bit, just the tiniest bit, as a person." "I've worn Oscar de la Renta's signature fragrance my whole adult life. It is like his designs & life. Classic, soft, feminine & elegant. RIP," actress Jamie Lee Curtis posted on Twitter.

"Fashion is a trend, style lives within a person' - Oscar de la Renta. The world has lost another... RIP," wrote reality TV star Kris Jenner.
