9 Brands that are Upcycling Textile Waste into Fashion


BENGALURU: In today's world, where recycling is an integral part, upcycle is a process in which old materials are used to improve upon the original ones and recreate something better. It is a concept that is largely being used in runways where discarded buttons, old rags, broken jewelry and other materials are being utilized and transformed into coherent and wearable designs.  In this way, one man's junk becomes another man’s art. Creative partners and Directors Kriti Tula, Paras Arora and Vaibhav Kapoor have created an entire fashion label from upcycling. Making fabrics out of damaged spools that cannot be used in machines, repurposing strips of fabric to make knitted mufflers and sweaters; they have come out with versatile, edgy designs that are catching the eyes of all. This year the brand is planning to explore prints and use patching of different colors ranging from pastels, whites, beige  fabrics de-starching and hand block printing yardages.
