Xiaomi Plans R&D Centre In Bangalore

BANGALORE:  Xiaomi, the privately owned Chinese electronics company, most often called as “Apple of China” is planning to set up a R&D centre in Bangalore. It is supposed that Chinese electronic company is very sure with expanding its business in Indian markets. Thus, it is very clear Xiaomi will build its presence stronger for the sake of customizing devices for local consumers.

Xiaomi is one of China's biggest electronics companies that designs, develops, and sells smartphones, mobile apps, and consumer electronics. According to Hugo Barra, Vice-President for internal operations at Xiaomi said, "We want to have an R&D centre with an actual engineering team with designers, product managers and software engineers, who will build features for the Indian market within India, not just localize features," reports The Economic Times.

Since the release of its first smartphone in August 2011, Xiaomi has gained market share in China and expanded into developing a wider range of consumer electronics. Xiaomi employs a very different strategy unlike other smartphone makers such as Samsung and Apple. The company prices the phone almost at material prices and eventually gets profited from the narrow margin.  Xiaomi has sold 95,000 Mi3 smartphones approximately each priced at 13, 999 via 6 flash sales in a month on Flipkart.
