8. Splunk

Splunk makes searchable data from any app, server or network device in real time. It will also index the data collected. Logs, config files, messages, alerts, scripts and metrics are some of the end-products of Splunk. It provides businesses with a lot of apps to figure out error files and keep things running.

After going public in 2012, Splunk has continued its exponential growth. It made $200 million revenue last year, courtesy new clients like T-Mobile, the U.S. Department of Energy, and B2W.

7. Knewton

Knewton offers a range of products from adaptive­-learning e­books to personalized English­ language training courses. It helps to pinpoint and develop the specific problem areas of each pupil in a class which is unlikely to happen in a traditional class running at full capacity. Knewton analyzes the progress of millions of students via its digital platform to create better test questions and to personalize course goals. The company recently had a deal with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt to provide adaptive K-12 math courses. In association with French startup Gutenberg Technology, it created smarter digital textbooks. Last year, it got $51 million investment from a venture firm Atomico.
